Sibset of the Week: The Cooks

Zoe Ball and Norman Cook with newborn daughter Nelly in 2010, from telegraph.co.uk

Ask me to name a radio DJ, and after Jo Whiley the next name I can come up with is Zoe Ball, who follows Jo Whiley by almost a year in receiving a mention in this particular feature. Zoe Ball has the distinction of being the first female host of Radio 1.

Then we have her husband, Norman Cook, also well-known in his own right and under his stage name of Fatboy Slim; to date, he has won two Brit Awards and a VMA and he has the distinction of a place on Q’s 50 Bands To See Before You Die list. Norman’s birth name is Quentin Leo, and the names of his children with Zoe are:

Woody Fred (2000)

Nelly May Lois (2010)

Interestingly, this is the second time of late a young ‘un with the name Lois has popped up on one of these posts, the other occasion being the daughter of Gabby Logan, Lois Maya, born in 2005. Name to watch? She has the outdated, fusty quality some parents faun over, and is an alternative to Eloise and Louise. I’m still not completely convinced, although I’m surprised at how highly she ranks: at #127; as for Woody, he’s #470. Whilst I’m not overly interesting in Lois, Nelly is another one of those names which I’ve always loved, she ranks at ##747.
