Robin Hood’s Den

Taken by yours truly in Nottingham Castle, which is always associated with the legend of Robin Hood

I make no secret of the fact that I live next door to Sherwood Forest, the supposed dwelling of Robin Hood. He’s our local hero, but his name has never really entered popular use, I’ve never heard someone consider naming their child Robin, after Robin Hood. However, I know of a person who has just named their son Sherwood, after the forest.

So the question I pose myself is this, what are the names of other forests in England, which have naming potential like Sherwood?

  1. A lot of these are great! I’ve seen Yardley used a few times, and I like Esher. Alice, Bentley, Leigh and Mara are already names. Surprised you didn’t mention the Forest of Dean!

Red Rose would be a pretty cute name, although there’s Rose Red who was in a story with Snow White by the Brothers Grimm, she was her sister.

But I believe this story is separate from the Snow White of the Disnye film.
